I found myself doubting Thanksgiving, remember the "UnThanksgiving" that Native Americans staged on Alcatraz Island, but then I thought about how this holiday was a time when the Pilgrims and the Native Americans worked together, and that, not what came before or after, is what I choose to think about during this holiday. And how lovely, a day for thanks, not a Hallmark card day (well they try) but a day for friends and family, like you so simply point out. Yes, "simply giving thanks" -- Thank you Christie!

I am grateful that you blog on this blog, Christie. (Can we find a more suitable and elegant word than "blog" please? It's too close to "flog" and "block" for my tastes.) I so enjoy reading your essays. (Yeah, that's a good, old-fashioned word!)
