Sweet Revenge
December 22, 2009, by Christie Healey
Christie Healey shares a holiday pick about a musician who turned a bad experience into a very popular video.
Dave Carroll adds new meaning to “sweet revenge”. This may not be everyone’s idea of an inspiring holiday video link, but it is mine, and I hope it makes you smile and sing along.
United Airlines broke Dave’s custom Taylor guitar and were not really sorry about it. During Dave’s final exchange with United Customer Relations, he said he had no alternative but to create a music video and post it on YouTube. The manager responded “Good Luck with that one pal.” After the video received almost 6 million hits and was featured on CNN, United contacted Dave and attempted settlement in exchange for pulling the video. And his response? “Good Luck with that one pal.”
A little bah humbug, but a lot of giggles too. A big Happy Holidays to all.

I love it when the little guys n’ gals get the final word of corporate greed, indifference and stupidity.

Good one! Is Dave Carroll available to write songs about Bank of America, Delta Dental, the U.S. Senate, Joe Lieberman, Exxon/Mobil and a host of other entities I have on my own personal dis list?

I’ve loathed United ever since they treated my friend MM with actual cruelty (she was in severe back pain and they would not let her sit/stretch out in business class, even though the section was practically empty). You go Dave! I love it when talent and cleverness prevail.

Great idea, Dearpru. Hey, Dave Carroll, if you’re out there, there’s a whole lot more songs to be written and videos to be made. This could be a turning point in your career.

So, so good for you, Dave Carroll! Great to see someone take a stand against greed, indifference and stupidity. Sorry about your guitar, though. We all know they really should have just fixed it, but then you wouldn’t have written such a cool and popular little song! All things work together for good . . .

I forgot to add that Taylor Guitars made him two new ones, so Dave is doing okay considering…

Great article on Dave standing up for himself, against being bought out. He could made mega bucks from this. But he chose his honor over money. Awsum!!! BTW, Merry Xmas to all my new found friends and a Happy New Year.

I agree with the other posts on Dave standing up for himself. Honor vs money. Happy New Year to you!
