Get Up Offa That Thing
January 6, 2010, by Connie Stetson
Get up, warm up and get funky with Connie Stetson’s choice for post-holiday cheer.
Urghhh…It’s after Christmas. I feel fat like a stuffed Christmas goose. I need to feel the funk…. So, let’s “Get Up Offa That Thing” and dance so we can feel better in 2010. 2010???? I feel so space-age.
Much love and luck to all in the coming year.

This song should carry a warning, “Do not drive while listening to this song if you’ve consumed more than 100 mg. of caffeine.”
(Listen up, Starbucks fans: a Starbucks brewed venti has more than 400 mg and a Caramel Frappuccino Blended Coffee venti has 155 mg of caffeine–and a mere 380 calories!)

I was fortunate enough to meet Sir James Brown, the G-Fatha of Soul in the early ’90s while working on a project with him and “Can’t Touch This” MC Hammer (what’s “this” Tim probably wonders). He offered to sign a photo that his people provided and he wrote: “To Cathy and family. I feel good!” He felt good all right having just come out of jail, but probably more because he was getting up offa his thing and dancing! Long live JB and his sex machine funk!

I had the pleasure of doing the James Brown slide over The Godfather of Soul Bridge in Steamboat Springs, CO. The whitest soul town in the west. Very cool, yet very strange….

I just added this to my play list. Really helpful today. Another song that does this for me is Proud Mary – Tina.
Others/ Lets compile a total list.

Yes – dancing does it. What a good activity for 2010.

Funny thing, I just passed a Jazzersize studio on my way home yesterday, and it hit me that maybe, since I love to dance, I would be more likely to stay with a dance-exercise program. Thanks for the smiles.
